In January 2018 Semer Parish Council issued Court Proceedings against Babergh District Council challenging their Planning Team's decision to grant permission for change of use of an agricultural building to a dwelling house under class Q of the Planning Act (General Permitted Development) Order 2015. The Building being an animal shelter on land at Ash Street. After taking their own legal advice Babergh District Council agreed that the decision they made was Unlawful. They have agreed to pay all costs incurred in connection with the case. The Parish Council would like to thank those who came forward to help. Without their support this course of action could not have been taken.
